About Leigh Spinners
Where we are now
At Leigh Spinners Ltd, we have a strong history of tradition and workmanship behind us, but our history is only a small part of who we are.
Industry expectations and standards are ever changing, and we are continually working with our suppliers to obtain the finest quality yarns and fibres to ensure optimum performance and longevity, whilst maintaining sustainability and minimal impact to the environment. Our ISO accreditation supports the high standards we pride ourselves on.
In addition to synthetic turf and non-woven sports surfaces, Leigh Spinners Ltd is widely considered to be a leading manufacturer of heavy contract fibre bonded carpet and carpet tiles, which is testimony to over 35 years experience in the industry.
We are accredited members of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and members of the Sports and Play Construction Association (SAPCA) and the Made In Britain organisation.
Our history
Leigh Spinners was originally set up as a cotton spinning mill just before the First World War, in 1913.
We began manufacturing carpets in 1967 and in the late 1980s, invested in a Non-Woven plant allowing us to produce fibre bonded carpets suitable for the commercial sector.
Throughout the 1990s, we developed our portfolio to include playing surfaces suitable for bowls, tennis and Multi-Use Gaming Areas. With this knowledge, it allowed us to move forward with the changing market and, in 2009, we began production of Synthetic Turf products suitable for Landscape, Leisure and Sport.
